Anybody else experiencing that?
I can literally crash the Marketplace app on the phone every time I use it (had the Samsung Focus since US launch date Nov. 8th).
The steps to reproduce are easy: go to the Marketplace on the phone, select apps, then browse (for instance go to the Free tab or New tab then keep scrolling down).
The point at which it crashes is not always the same.
Sometimes it crashes right away, sometimes you have to scroll several pages, sometimes you select an app then go back to the list and it crashes.
Not only it happens very often, but once it crashes the UI completely freezes (you can get out by pressing the Windows key) and you can no longer get back to the Marketplace.
When trying to launch it again it will display the "launching..." animation for 10 seconds then die and go back to the home screen.
The only way to recover is to reboot the phone!
The first time it happened I didn't even think about rebooting the phone (have the phone been running Windows 95 or 98 I would have though of that right away but I have to admit MSFT OSes have been pretty reliable in the last decade), and I don't reboot things often, leading to a 3 day outage of the Marketplace.
I'm pretty sure lots of customers are affected (I also managed to crash a demo phone at an ATT store without especially trying!) and that a good chunk of them will just give up trying the start the Marketplace.
And I don't think the majority of the people will think about rebooting their phone as they see the Marketplace app as just another regular app on the phone.
This marketplace instability (coupled with its amazing slowness, but that's not the subject of this thread and we hope the upcoming update will really speed it up) for sure leads to less overall sales, affecting the whole eco-system.
MSFT, was this (serious/critical/priority one/fix asap) bug fix for the upcoming release?
Thanks,
